Our professional team, with over 60 years of combined hunting experience, is led by seasoned hunters and guides John, Roelof and Robin, who are dedicated to creating unparalleled safari adventures. The Team
JOHN LUYT
John is a seasoned conservationist and expert hunting outfitter with decades of experience in African wildlife and protected area management. Since the 1990s, he has been deeply involved in conservation efforts and has dedicated over 10 years specifically to conservation management, balancing the needs of wildlife and sustainable tourism. As co-founder of Duke Safaris in 2003, John has successfully guided the company for over 20 years, establishing it as a respected name in the industry. John resides on his own farm with his wife and two daughters. Known for his quick wit and approachable nature, John brings a wealth of knowledge to every safari, sharing fascinating insights into the region's wildlife and rich history. His extensive expertise and passion for conservation make him not only a trusted guide but also an engaging storyteller, ensuring that each adventure with Duke Safaris is memorable, meaningful and fun.
ROELOF NIEMANN
Roelof's love for conservation began at an early age, and he has gained extensive experience in conservation and hunting over the last 40 years. His professional journey started as a safari guide in 1996, where he gained extensive experience in fauna, flora, hospitality, and tracking dangerous game. Roelof quickly rose to head safari guide before becoming assistant reserve manager of a 26,000-hectare reserve. In 2004, he co-founded Duke Safaris with John Luyt, and together they have become well-known and respected outfitters in the region. Roelof now lives on his own game ranch, where he lives with his wife and two children. A calm, confident, and responsible leader, Roelof prioritizes client safety while upholding a deep respect for nature and high ethical standards. As a devoted family man, he values both his personal and professional responsibilities, ensuring every safari is a safe and ethical experience.
ROBIN FOURIE
Robin is the youngest member of the Duke Safaris team, bringing a fresh perspective fueled by a deep passion for African wildlife and conservation. Robin has amassed impressive experience in wildlife management and protected areas for his age. After completing his studies in nature conservation, he worked hands-on in wildlife management over seven years, gaining valuable insights and skills. Since joining Duke Safaris in 2022, Robin has become known for his calm, reassuring presence in the field, particularly when guiding. His depth of knowledge and steady approach instil confidence in his guests, creating a sense of safety and trust during every encounter. Robin's commitment to the land and its wildlife shines through, making each safari a thoughtfully guided experience.
EDDIE
Eddie is a skilled tracker and qualified professional hunter whose infectious smile and positive attitude make him an invaluable part of the Duke Safaris team. Known for his sharp eyesight and exceptional tracking abilities, Eddie has an instinctive talent for reading the bush and locating animals. His enthusiasm and constant willingness to lend a hand create a welcoming atmosphere for guests and colleagues alike. Whether tracking wildlife or assisting on a hunt, Eddie's keen skills and friendly demeanour ensure a rewarding experience for everyone around him.

Voster is a trusted and respected member of the Duke Safaris team, known for his warm, welcoming smile and friendly nature. He approaches every task with a slow, steady, and methodical style, ensuring care in all he does. While his pace is unhurried, Voster is anything but lazy, his dedication to his craft shines through in his exceptional tracking skills and expertise as a skinner.
